Primary seven have been learning all about the Irish famine and the important part that soup kitchen played for the people in Ireland. Mrs Liggett very kindly offered to make us some nettle soup and homemade potato bread. It was delicious.

We were learning about the Dunbrody ships and how these became known as coffin ships during the Irish famine. We then created some pieces of artwork based on these ships.

Irish cottage artwork inspired by Belfast artist, Markey Robinson.

Letters from the workhouse.
